Best Mathematics Equation Editor For Mac
Is there any legitimate reason for the difference? Surely this cannot be an oversight on Microsoft's behalf, especially when Microsoft always ensured that if a function is present on more than one Office program, then it behaves the same way in each. Did they just forget? The Word version is powerful and intuitive, and offers significant advantages over the editor in PowerPoint, including the ability to cut/copy/paste equations between Word and PowerPoint. I don't see why I should have to go down the MathType or LaTeX route simply because I'm not using the Windows version.
What I find particularly galling is that the equation authoring is advanced in a 2010 Windows version and comparatively primitive in the later 2011 Mac release. Word gets the updated feature and PowerPoint doesn't. Good editor for youtube videos free.
It makes no sense in the slightest. Naturally I would expect that Microsoft releases the best new features in the Windows version, and then some or all of these features become available on the next Mac release 1 to 3 years later.

This is understandable; Microsoft has a right to encourage its customers to continue with the Windows operating system. For the same reasons, it is fair to assume the current Windows version will always be 'better' than the current Mac version, but at least the basic features should be identical. Equation authoring needs to be considered a basic feature because of its widespread use in educational contexts. My inner cynic says that educators and their students on the Mac platform are being unfairly discriminated against on the grounds of what should be basic functionality of the software. Many educators and students are not even using the Mac version by choice and have been forced to adopt it as their organisation has provided them with an Apple product as part of their employment or enrolment.
Mathematics functionality in software is a cornerstone of contemporary education, so why does Microsoft not serve the needs of the majority of students globally who must compulsorily study mathematics? And the educators who are responsible for them? I agree, the new equation editor in Powerpoint just made my job as a math teacher exponentially more difficult!!!!!!
Free Equation Editor
I was previously able to insert an equation (just like I still can in Word) and then manipulate the font and color. I was able to easily change to white font on my black background (which is easier for students to see with the lights down), but now I can only create black font equations and they are now ever harder to insert into the Powerpoint. I am very disappointed that this once easy feature to use has changed. I loved being able to use this program to efficiently display math questions and solutions, but without a functioning equation editor there is little point in me even taking the time to use Powerpoint at all. Very, very frustrated!
